Just to clarify - The Senators all get 5 minutes of questioning. Usually they alternate Republican, Democrat, Republican, etc. In this case, the Republicans have all given their turns to this one woman, Rachel Mitchell, who is a prosecutor from Arizona. Thus, every time Rachel Mitchell gets a turn, she is asking questions on behalf of a Republican Senator, and every time another person gets a turn, it is a Democratic Senator. (It’s sort of a confusing format.)
Having Rachel Mitchell - a woman who is not member of the Republican Senate - asking these questions, is a shitty way of protecting the Republican Senators (mostly only white men) from the visual of ganging up on this woman who is a victim of sexual assault.
